During his inauguration celebration which was in actuality celebration of the United States' inauguration of its 44th president, Obama failed to appear at the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball.
This is the event honoring the nation's Medal of Honor winners. These are some of the people that sacrificed beyond the call of duty, honor, and country to secure the nation that had just accepted BO as its president.
The President of the United States of America serves in many roles for the American people. Some roles which are ascribed to the holder of this office include the inheritor of all tradition, exemplar of leadership, protector and carrier of Constitutional responsibilities, the American model of ethical and moral standard, and, specifically, Commander-in-Chief of the US military.
Might President BO have intentionally missed this ball and the opportunity he would have had to honor those who ensured the very existence of the office to which BO so intensely aspired?
Might President BO's not appearing at this ball have been accidental? How might any man ascending to the US Presidency have missed this event? How could any man ascending to this office allow himself to miss this ball?
No man could have allowed himself to miss this ball.
Obama is the first president to skip the ball since its inception in 1953.
